Systech Reseller Agreement Announced
Invatron Systems Corp. is pleased to announce a new agreement with Systech Corporation to distribute their RCS Intelligent Ethernet Series Port Server. The RCS-3000 unit enables you to easily bridge your in-store serial devices such as scales, printers and time clocks onto your Ethernet-based LAN. Each device is connected to an IP-addressable serial port. Now all your in-store peripherals can sit on a single LAN instead of isolated proprietary networks.
RCS Port Servers provide an easy and inexpensive way to free up valuable serial ports on your in-store processor or other serial multi-port adapters. These units are a perfect solution for retailers moving toward ASP-based solutions where remote server applications need access to in-store serial devices. They are also an inexpensive replacement for older passive level-converters or legacy multi-port hardware like Datatec’s 8 and 16 port panels that are no longer supported by the manufacturer.
RCS Port Servers come with an optional Ethernet hub and provide LAN attached serial port expansion, remote monitoring, and IP routing. These units make a 10Base-T connection to the LAN and offer 2, 4, 8, or 16 ports. All ports are all individually selectable as RS-232, 422, or 485 through software configured selections. When configured as either RS-422 or RS-485, they can be connected via home run or daisy chain wiring to your peripherals.
These units come with port redirection software called NativeCom. NativeCom can be installed on your in-store processor, remote Application Server or Point-of-Sale controller. The software wraps IP-packets around the serial I/O signals and routes them to a specific port on the RCS box where they are unpacked and sent on to the serial device.
The RCS series unit can be physically located anywhere in the store. All you need is an Ethernet port nearby. If an Ethernet port is nearby but not available, an optional pass-through port is provided to help you avoid additional cabling. From your other software applications, all serial devices in the store appear as if they were directly connected to the computer’s internal serial ports. Your applications never know the difference!
RCS Port Servers operate like an Ethernet terminal server at a fraction of the cost. They minimize wiring, free up serial ports on dedicated processors, prevent hung applications from locking up other network devices, let you to share peripherals, and diagnose problems or re-configure devices remotely. In short, they help extend the life of your serial devices in an increasingly IP-based world.
