Giant Eagle Rolls Out PeriScope / July, 2002
Giant Eagle, a leading grocery retailer based in Pittsburgh, is currently rolling out Invatron's PeriScope DSS Perishables Management application to its first block of 100 stores. The company is well known for embracing leading edge technologies to maximize efficiencies. Giant Eagle has been instrumental through the design and testing phases of the PeriScope DSS product development.
This pilot test of PeriScope DSS has identified a significant return on investment. As store shrink was minimized, the efficiency of the perishable markdown programs increased. The production recommendations resulted in fewer out-of-stock situations and overall improvements in inventory replenishment.
Invatron has worked closely with Giant Eagle and Symbol Technologies in developing the PeriScope technology. Several additional modules are being explored to expand PeriScope's range of application. This will further streamline retailer's processes and introduce other sources of return on investment. Meanwhile, PeriScope DSS is being tested by other leading grocery retailers across North America. Right across the board - results are indicating significant shrink reduction and added revenue to the bottom line - without an increase in same store sales!
