Gigante Goes Live with ePLUM / December, 2003
Gigante supermarkets of Santa Ana California has gone live with Invatron's enterprise scale manager "ePLUM" to all its US based stores. ePLUM provides a central point of control that can work with serial, ethernet and wireless scales, eliminates the need for store level software and introduce new levels of automation. A state of the art help desk toolset provides pro-active scale status alerts virtually eliminating failed transmissions and reduces the requirement for third party scale technicians to perform basic tasks.
The ePLUM system is fed by TCI's HQ application for centralized control of all item data including pricing. Teaming up with TCI provides Gigante with a single point of entry for data and consequently 100% price integrity across the enterprise.
The Gigante supermarket chain now operates 6 stores in California with new stores under construction in Nevada and California. In addition Gigante has 475 stores in 31 Mexican states, including hyper-markets, conventional "Super G" supermarkets and small-format bodegas. Gigante is one of the top 20 corporations in Mexico, with approximately $3 billion in annual sales.
