Piggly Wiggly Carolina selects PLUM Host and ePLUM Scale Manager / December 2005
TORONTO, CANADA (December 15, 2005)- Invatron is pleased to announce that the Piggly Wiggly Carolina Company has selected PLUM Host and ePLUM Scale Manager to provide scale management to its chain of full service supermarkets.
Piggly Wiggly operates over 100 store locations that will be fed with data generated by Invatron's PLUM Host item management application. PLUM Host will be used to manage scale-item details centrally, maintain data integrity and eliminate data errors in the scales. ePLUM Scale Manager will run at the corporate level on a central server to manage all scale communications as well as provide staff with the help desk tools to monitor each scale in the enterprise. ePLUM replaces a DOS based proprietary application that communicated through dial-up and was no longer meeting the company's needs. ePLUM takes advantage of the existing WAN to leverage the investment and bring new functionality to the end users. No changes to the existing scale network or current scale inventory were required since ePLUM supports serial, TCP-IP or hybrid environments.
