Sobeys Implementing Invatron's PLUM Scale Management Solution / June 2005

TORONTO, CANADA (June 20, 2005)- Sobeys, a leading national grocery retailer and food distributor, has selected PLUM Store for Windows to fulfill their scale management requirements across the enterprise.

PLUM, running on a Windows ISP will provide connectivity to all in-store weigh and labeling equipment as well as maintain accurate pricing and item data within the scales. The application is key to maximizing profitability, meeting legislated requirements, and ensuring customer satisfaction through price integrity in perishable food departments. The PLUM application eliminates the need for store level personnel to make price changes at the scales.

PLUM installations have commenced, with the schedule calling for nearly 900 installs prior to year-end. "The logistics and integrated efforts of many departments and different vendors make this a consolidated effort that we are pleased to be a part of" stated Axel Doerwald, President and CEO of Invatron Systems Corp. "Our relationship with Sobeys extends back over 10 years and it is a culmination of our joint efforts that are allowing us to take this next step".

The rapid PLUM deployment has been spurred on by the legislated requirement for Nutritional Fact labels, on fresh food products packaged at store level, by December 12, 2005. With a concerted effort by Sobeys, Invatron and the Scale Vendors the project will culminate in a state of the art scale management implementation with a quantifiable ROI that meets all operations and legislated requirements. By the completion of the PLUM roll-out it is expected that Sobeys will have more wireless scale installations than any other grocery retailer in North America.

In business since 1907, Sobeys is headquartered in Stellarton, Nova Scotia and has operations across the country. With more than 1,300 stores in 10 provinces, including Sobeys, IGA, and Price Chopper, and thousands of wholesale customers, Sobeys has the largest end-to-end food presence in Canada.
