Southern Family Markets implements Invatron’s PLUM Host and PLUM Store Scale Management Solutions / October 2005
TORONTO, CANADA (October 20, 2005)- Southern Family Markets, an affiliate of C&S Wholesale Grocers, has selected PLUM Host and PLUM Store for UNIX to fulfill their scale management requirements across the enterprise.
PLUM Host will run centrally in a Windows environment and manage all scale item data while PLUM Store will run on a UNIX-based In Store Processor. Thus providing connectivity to all in-store weigh/labeling equipment enabling Southern Family Markets to maintain accurate pricing and item data throughout the store. The application is critical to maximizing perishable department’s profitability, meeting legislated requirements, and ensuring customer satisfaction through accurate pricing. The PLUM application eliminates the need for store level personnel to make price changes at the scales. In addition, the system can generate alerts for any communication failures and report them back to a central help desk.
Southern Family Markets is a new chain comprising 102 stores purchased from Bi-Lo operating under the Bi-Lo or Bruno’s banner and 7 stores purchased from Winn-Dixie. Rick Cohen, C&S and Southern Family Markets CEO, said, "Through the store purchase we look forward to building on the success of our prior distribution agreement with BI-LO/Bruno's and further strengthening our presence in the Southeast. This new agreement will allow us to strategically integrate the wholesale and retail aspects of the purchased stores and grow sales."
Mark Gross, the President of Southern Family Markets, stated, "We are excited to enter the growing Southeast retail market through the purchase of these stores that are operated by a group of talented and dedicated associates."
PLUM was originally installed in the BI-LO/Bruno’s stores. A plan to move the stores and their data over to Southern Family Markets is currently underway with over 65 stores already converted. “The combined efforts of Agilysis, C&S, and Invatron have met the challenge of the tight schedules demanded by the store conversion schedule” stated Axel Doerwald, President and CEO of Invatron Systems Corp. “We look forward to continuing to support Southern Family Markets as they establish the company in the Southeast as a leading grocery retailer.”
