Bruno’s migrates to ePLUM and SRM, software technology from Invatron Systems Corp. / February 2008
TORONTO, CANADA (Feb 25, 2008) – Invatron Systems Corp., the leading provider of enterprise-level software solutions for the food retail industry, is pleased to announce that Bruno’s Inc. has solidified plans to implement ePLUM Scale Manager 2.5 in centrally managing their in-store weigh/label scale equipment.
A long-standing PLUM Store Unix user, Bruno’s has now elected to take advantage of ePLUM’s advanced architecture and feature set. ePLUM Scale Manager 2.5 is a multi-vendor, web-enabled solution that provides retailers with centralized control of in-store scales and printers. Accessible from any computer running a web browser, ePLUM allows support staff to have immediate access to any Ethernet or serial scale device. Along with ease of implementation, this thin-client solution offers the assurance of superior data integrity, and meets legislated requirements such as support for trans fats, allergens, and country of origin labeling (COOL).
Scale Resource Manager (SRM), a separate, add-on module to ePLUM, offers additional benefit and ROI to the retailer. SRM provides the ability to send and receive scale label formats, graphics and logos, fonts, speedkeys, and other configuration and support files. In support of marketing and promotional campaign efforts, file transfers, which can be performed manually, may be scheduled to coincide with the precise start time of a new campaign. An on-site technician, and the related expense, is no longer required for these types of updates.
Bruno’s was founded in Birmingham, Alabama, in the 1930’s. In recent years, the company was merged with BI-LO of Mauldin, SC, as part of Ahold’s acquisition strategy. It now operates as a separate entity, comprised of 72 grocery stores. The company plans to focus on its original marketplace where it maintains strong brand value and roots in the community.
